Ruben joined the Beckwourth Fire District in 2017 as a Captain. He retired from the US Forest Service as an Engine Captain after 34 years of service. He worked on the Plumas, Tahoe, El Dorado and Los Padres National Forests in wildland fire. He also worked for the California Department of Forestry back in 1983. He worked on crews, engines, Helitack and is currently involved in OES where he can go to different parts of the state on fires as a single resource or can take out the engine on a strike team for assignments.
